Vettbeauty has one rule: a product appears here only if it formally won a named award from a major beauty publication’s awards program. Not an editor’s pick. Not a “best of” listicle. Not a sponsored roundup. A named award, in a formal annual program.

The process

  1. 1Source extractionEvery winner is recorded from the publication's own published winner announcements, with the award's exact name and year. When a site blocks robots, we use archived copies of the same announcement. Nothing is inferred.
  2. 2Human reviewA human editor reviews every extracted list for accuracy — award names, product variants, and years — before it enters the database. No AI-only curation.
  3. 3DeduplicationWhen the same product wins in more than one publication, the records are merged — then human-reviewed. A curated exclusion list prevents false merges, so distinct product generations and variants stay separate.
  4. 4Consensus scoringA product's consensus score is the number of distinct major publications that independently awarded it. Purely additive — no weighting, no editorial thumb on the scale. Independence is what matters.
  5. 5Annual refreshWhen a new award season publishes, winners are collected into a structured file and imported through the same verified pipeline. Scores, leaderboards, and filters update automatically; past years are preserved.

What money never touches

Brands cannot pay to appear on Vettbeauty, and commissions from retail links never influence rankings. The leaderboard is computed from award counts alone. See our affiliate disclosure.

What we don’t do

  • × Accept payment to feature or rank products
  • × Include picks that lack a formal award name
  • × Generate award lists with AI
  • × Alter scores for affiliate reasons
